Closing of 27 Kmart, Sears Stores Follows News of Macy's Cutbacks
More than two dozen Kmart stores will be closing this spring, with liquidation sales beginning later this month, a Sears Holding Corp. spokesman told the Detroit Free Press . Company spokesman Howard Riefs declined to tell the Free Press the number of stores that would be closing, but added that the closures would be nationwide and include some Sears stores as well.

Shell to shed further 2,800 jobs after BG takeover
Royal Dutch Shell plans to cut about 2,800 jobs after its takeover of BG Group is completed early next year. Shell said the cuts, quantified for the first time since the $60bn (£40bn) deal was announced in April, would affect about 3% of the combined company's permanent workforce.

Biogen said today it will reduce its workforce 11%, or up to about 880 employees, mostly by year's end as part of a restructuring that will also include termination of several pipeline drug development programs. The layoffs and restructuring come as the biotech giant responds to a slower increase in sales for its marketed drugs than in recent years-a slump that has resulted in the company's stock losing 44% of its value since reaching its 2015 high closing price of $475.98 on March 20, falling to a closing price of $265.81 yesterday.
